Setup Insider participates in affiliate programs. This page explains exactly what that means, because you’re entitled to know how a site that recommends products pays its bills.
The short version
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer pays us a small commission. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid otherwise — the commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket.
Amazon Associates
Setup Insider is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
Which links are affiliate links
Any link that takes you to a retailer’s product page is an affiliate link. These appear as:
- Product names in our Quick Answer summaries
- Product names in comparison tables
- Product names in review headings
- “Check current price” buttons
Links to manufacturer documentation, independent measurement sites, technical references and our own articles are not affiliate links and earn us nothing.
How this affects what we recommend
It doesn’t, and here is the structural reason why rather than just our word for it.
Commission rates on computer peripherals are low — a few percent — and effectively identical across every product in a category. Recommending a more expensive monitor earns us marginally more than a cheaper one, but recommending the right monitor is what makes someone trust the site enough to come back. Over any timeframe longer than a single article, honest recommendations are worth more to us than squeezing an extra euro out of one.
We also regularly recommend products that earn us nothing, including budget options, discontinued models worth buying used, and the advice to keep what you already own.
Display advertising
Setup Insider displays advertisements served by third-party advertising networks. These advertisers have no influence over our editorial content, and we do not see which ads appear on which articles before they are served.
Information about the cookies used by advertising partners is available in our Cookie Policy.
Prices
Prices mentioned in articles are approximate and were accurate at the time of writing. Prices change frequently. Always check the current price on the retailer’s page before buying — the figures in our articles are there to indicate which price bracket a product sits in, not to quote you a price.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, or you want to know whether a specific link is an affiliate link, ask us through our contact page and we’ll tell you plainly. You can also read how we evaluate products on our about page.
